Cilantro also known as coriander has been a part of our history since the Ancient Egyptian era, some even date cilantro back to 5000 BC. About half a liter of coriander was recovered from the tomb of Tutankhamen (an Egyptian Pharaoh dating back from 1332 BC)! If I had to choose one herb to eat for the rest of my life it would be cilantro. This delicious herb has a very distinctive flavor that adds an extra kick to any dish. I mean, what’s guacamole or a ceviche without some cilantro added to it?
Not only does it bring great flavor but cilantro has been found to be a very effective cleanser for toxic metals in the body. The chemical compounds founds in cilantro bind to toxic metals and release them from tissues. Eating a handful of cilantro every day for 10 days will significantly lower the toxic metals in your body. Worried about mercury exposure?, try the 10 day cleanse. I personally try to have a handful every morning, I noticed that in doing so I feel more awake and refreshed in the morning.

Alas, I have written 18 important health benefits found from cilantro/coriander. The list can go on for days and frankly, my hands are pretty tired! Hopefully this has convinced you to add cilantro into your daily diets, I highly recommend it. When I first tried cilantro I hated it, I thought the taste was way to strong and overwhelming but as I got older and started to experiment with different cuisines, I grew a new-found love for cilantro.
Try adding handfuls of cilantro to your smoothies and homemade raw juices. You will instantly feel refreshed and charged for the day. If you are adventurous try having a handful of fresh cilantro leafs every morning before breakfast, I do it and I can stand by it.
