heart1This may not be a problem for some, but as we get older we become more at risk for  heart related issues. It’s important to exercises your heart the same way you would exercise a muscle. These simple tips you may already know could be a big contributor for keeping a healthy heart!

Laugh it UP!
Make sure you’re laughing everyday. Studies have shown that laughter reduces blood pressure and elevates serotonin levels in the brain. Go to your local comedy club or watch FRIENDS and laugh your heart into good health! 

If you find yourself relaxing with a cup of tea reading a book, turn off your phone and really absorb the moment. We are crowded with external stimulus from all angles and it’s important sometimes to just disconnect. Without the stress of receiving calls and texts you can really let go and enjoy the present moment in peace!

Eat well
Yes, I know… You’ve heard this a thousand times over. Well there must be a reason for that then right? A good balanced diet will most certainly reduce the risk for many heart related diseases. Not only is a healthy diet good for your heart, but you will feel happier and more active in your overall daily life!

Sleepy Time
When it comes to sleep many people find this difficult to do. I mean lying still in bed and dozing off into the abyss with endless possibilities should be something to look forward to… no? When in bed, keep your eyes closed and take 20 deep inhales and exhales this is a great way to relax your body and prepare for sleep. Sleep is important to keep the body relaxed and stress free. Stress is the absolute worst thing for the heart and it’s important to give it a rest! Pun intended :)

Running is a great way to keep your heart healthy. Try to run at least once every day, whether it’s outdoors or on the treadmill it’s important to get that blood flowing. Not only will your heart be healthier but you will feel healthier other aspects as well.
