I’ve been in contact for a while now on Twitter. She would constantly message me for nutrition/fitness advice. Hannah literally started from scratch and used twitter as an effective tool to gain information and see results. I am very happy that I was able to track her progress and witness her transformation. Good work Hannah!
1 – Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you accomplished.
My name is Hannah and I have always been a little bit big and the journey started when I looked at the picture of me in the black dress. I started out weighing 13 stone (182 lbs) and today I am 9 stone 8lbs (135 lbs).
Before my journey I thought I looked slim in that dress but comparing the photos I realize how big I actually was. After looking at this picture however I decided to take action whilst I still can and It feels amazing to have accomplished something I thought was just a dream.
During the process I had days where I went off track but I used that as motivation to work harder, I didn’t beat myself up over eating something I was craving but after I got up and worked it off, I still have treats but I balance it out. It’s a constant learning curve, if you aren’t sure about something just eat it and see what affect it has on your body.
Every time I wanted to give up I looked at the old photo of me and then a picture of the body I dreamed of having and it gave me the motivation I needed to keep on track.
Family and friends are always going to be encouraging no matter what, my mum in particular was determined for me to do it however they used to tell me that I didn’t need to lose any more or I’m fine as I am but that isn’t what I needed, I’d rather them be straight and tell me I need to lose it to give me that extra motivation.
The biggest benefit I have got from this experience is my clear skin, I have always suffered with spot outbreaks but this new lifestyle has given me clear skin and I can now even go without make up!!!
I have tried the fad diets like slim fast and yes it’s a quick fix but once you stop it, the weight comes back on and more, it gives you really bad side effects too. In order for me to be successful in my journey it was all about clean eating and regular exercise. I eat lots of home made soups, fruit and vegetables, grilled lean meat combined with complex carbs. My shopping cart has gone from processed frozen pizzas to fresh fish of the fish counter!
I would advise myself to just do it and never give up because I wasted so much time and I used to tell myself I was slim and that it didn’t bother me when actually it was the most horrible thing ever being trapped in a fat body.
The main advice I give is to go confidentially in the direction of your dream, if it seems too hard, start off with small goals this could be from taking the stairs instead of the elevator at work, small changes will make a big difference. If the journey seems long and scary break it down and it will be amazing!
The final words I give out are the never ever give up, it isn’t going to be easy but nothing worth having is easy so fight through it and you’ll be a much stronger person at the end!
