When it comes to dieting there are literally  thousands of different methods. How do we sort out what works and what doesn’t work? This can be very difficult for someone who have no experience with eating healthy and maintaining a clean diet. Here is a helpful list of 5 bad diet tips that you shouldn’t follow.

1. Cutting Out All Carbs

I’m sure you’ve heard this before. “Cut out all carbs, they are unnecessary.”  The reality is, we need carbs for energy and survival. The issue is not cutting out all carbs, but cutting out the right ones like white flour, starches and sugars. Carbs like whole grains, fruits and veggies are all very healthy for you and should not be left out!

2. NO Snacking 

This is thought out to be a good idea by many, but unfortunately is dead wrong. Snacking is essential for maintaining energy throughout the whole day. The problem with no snacking is that often times it leaves you feeling starving and lethargic in between meals. Snack on nuts, fruits and veggies to maintain a steady level of energy throughout the whole day!

3. All Fat is Bad For You

Low fat diet? What does that mean? Fat is essential for energy and good health. Our bodies need fat to function properly and maintain longer lasting energy. Aim for healthy fats such as OMEGA 3 Fatty acids found in fish and nuts and healthy fats found in avocados for optimal health.

4. Over Cutting Your Calories

This is strategy can get very strange, very quick. Often times people say no more than 1200 calories a day for some diets. There are so many other variables to consider. What if the person is training 6 times a week, 1200 calories will most certainly not provide anywhere near enough energy. It is important to take in to consideration all the variables when beginning a diet to ensure you will have a sustainable amount of energy throughout your experience. 

5. Breakfast? Who Needs it!

This is one of the worst diet tips ever heard of. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Assuming you have slept for 8 hours, your body needs to be replenished especially after an 8 hour fast. Breakfast is the determining factor for how well your metabolism will run for the day. Think of a fire, you need to feed it wood in order to keep the fire going. Your metabolism is no different. If you plan on skipping breakfast in hopes to lose weight quicker, you’ll be in for a big disappointment!
