Here are five important must-know facts about fiber.

1) More FIBER!
It is recommended that we eat about 30 grams of dietary fiber per day to maintain an optimal digestive system. Unfortunately the average person consumes about half that amount. An easier way to add fiber into your meals is to eat more dark leafy greens, legumes and beans. Legumes and beans contain A LOT of fiber and should not be over looked. Have your self a nice chickpea salad for lunch or as a side dish and see the difference!

2) Water Is Fuel For Fiber
Fiber will not work without the company of water! So it’s important to make sure that you drink about 9 glasses of water throughout the whole day. This will ensure that you’re getting the best possible results from your fiber intake. A good way to make sure you’re staying hydrated and getting your fiber is soups! Create a lentil, bean or vegetable soup and get the best of both worlds!

4) Juice Isn’t Always As Good
Juice may not be the best option when it comes to fiber intake, because the fiber in fruits is mainly in the skin. Store bought juices usually don’t contain much of the skin. A great way to ensure you are getting the benefits of fiber from juice is to simply make your own! Throw kiwis, apples and pears with their skin in the blender and make sure you are getting the all the fiber from the skin!

5) Fiber With Every Meal!
Try to incorporate fiber with every meal. Oatmeal is packed with fibers that will help kick-start your day and keep you feeling full for longer. For lunch incorporate lots of vegetables, beans, legumes and get your fiber intake! As for dinner, ideally you’d want to steer away from a heavy carb meal, so replace the carbs with lots of dark leafy greens. All these meals include fiber and will most definitely help you burn fat and get into shape :)
